"More job losses are expected within the tourism industry as there are no signs of recovery. Interim Labour Minister Bernadette Ganilau told Village news that hotels and resorts are struggling to keep people employed as occupancy rates remain below 50%.
According to Ganilau lack of funds has decreased their advertising drastically and they desperately need the $2 million allocated by the Finance Ministry for printing of brochures and restarting various advertising campaigns which has seized at the moment.
Interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry who returned from Brussels yesterday afternoon is yet to comment on the matter.Meanwhile, the Fiji Employers Federation said it is yet to acquire the relevant information to determine how many people have lost their jobs over the last seven months due to the decline in the tourism sector. It seems the Illegal Interim Regime is having a hard time releasing the $2m promised to FVB to kickstart the advertising campaign. If they wish to move the country forward, they need to be releasing funds straight away and not be procrastinating. This government has proven to be one that spews forth lies. It makes alot of promises but alot of froth and bubble and no substance.
People's livelihoods are at stake. The tourism sector should not have to suffer needlessly.
The Illegal Minister of Finance should seriously consider releasing the funds staright away, unless their whole agenda was to destroy the nation........

The pain and suffering will be around for a while. We must not give up hope and keep praying for Fiji and the families who have lost their loved ones. Let's pray for God's mercy and love. Let him him be the judge, let him be our guide and make us strong to fight this evil in our Fiji.
God Bless.
Tui.
Greetings from Samoa. We, the People of Samoa feel sorry for our brothers and sisters in Fiji who have been trapped in a military dictatorship. We pray for you. At the same time we are celebrating with our brothers in Cook Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu etc. Our hotels are 100% full we are building new once as we believe that the dark times in Fiji will last for quite a while.
Totally agree with you Tui. Christians must not take this lying down. We are in a critical momentin Fiji's history. Right now, all we can do is PRAY & continue to PRAY!However, I am of the view that a neutral Christian is a lukewarm one.I like to be hot on fire, right in the thick of things!
To our Bros & Sistahs in Samoa and Pacific nations, please uphold us in prayer. I believe that their are enough tourists in the world to
fill your hotels, as well as ours to 100% occupancy . However with all the negative travel advisories and bad hype going on, the tourists fear coming here. So much prayer is needed to help restore our country. Thanks again for your concern!
